AMMPA’s “The NFL and Medical Cannabis” Conference will be the first of its kind to merge two highly controversial and popular topics, connecting traditional western medicine and medical marijuana in a professional, educational environment. This live activity includes approximately 8.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

AMMPA’s Annual Conference in October 2017, brought in 400 physician attendees and included 22 seminars led by knowledgeable doctors and leaders in the medical cannabis industry. It also offered 15 accredited AMA PRA CME credit hours. Physicians traveled from all over the world, including the United States, Canada, South Africa and Germany, among others. AMMPA is proud to be the largest medical cannabis physician association in the United States, representing over 700 physician members.

Statement of Need

This conference helped physicians expand and update existing knowledge and skills regarding ever-increasingly sophisticated diagnostic and practice guidelines, to share new ideas for evaluation and treatment techniques, and to increase the practitioner’s knowledge and ability to act and advocate for patients within the current medical legislative and regulatory environment.

AMMPA’s “The NFL and Medical Cannabis” Conference will be the first of its kind to merge two highly controversial and popular topics enabling a platform that will connect traditional western medicine with the potential of medical marijuana. We are proud to recognize Jim McMahon as our Keynote Speaker, and Special Guest Congressman Matt Gaetz. Jim McMahon won two Super Bowl titles, one with the Chicago Bears as the starting quarterback and the other with the Green Bay Packers. He also played with the San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, and the Cleveland Browns. Experiencing concussions and countless injuries during his NFL career, McMahon uses Medical Cannabis to treat his arthritis and chronic pain. He also praises it, saying it allowed him to eliminate his painkiller usage. Congressman Matt Gaetz will also be speaking at the conference, he is the original author of the 2014 Medical Marijuana Law in Florida and is a current co-sponsor of the Medical Cannabis Research Act of 2018.

Ex-NFL athlete, Willis McGahee, heads up the Round-Table Discussion Panel of Former NFL Players Utilizing Cannabis for Medical Conditions. Former Collegiate Football Player, Treyous Jarrells, will also be on the panel. Along with Dr. Mark Chaet and Bret Jones, who is an attorney and NFL agent. Our moderators for the Panel include Dr. Barry Gordon and Dr. Sue Sisley, two very well known names in the Medical Cannabis world.

The American Medical Marijuana Physicians Association is a membership driven association, focusing on providing physicians with the resources they need to safely and effectively utilize medical marijuana recommendations as an alternative treatment modality for their patients. Based out of Florida, AMMPA serves as a physician advocate helping to outline practice risks and benefits, educational requirements, compliance issues, and aggregates its members to allow for a unified voice representing all physicians currently interested in cannabinoid medicine. Our members are leaders from across the United States that provide expertise to the public regarding research, education, speaking engagements, seminars, and industry recommendations.
